Jamie Sitko,M. Ed., LPCC I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Hiram Collegeand a Master of Education in Community Counseling from Kent State University. My husband of over 39 years and I are the parents of 2 adult children. I know people can heal from devastating challenges. My counseling focuses on and helps individuals with: Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Sexual Abuse, Trauma and Assault, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Addictions, Chronic Pain, Parenting Skills, Relationship Issues, Grief & Loss, Self-Care and Wellness. My experience includes counseling children, adolescents, adults, and families in: schools, community mental health settings, and private practice. For counseling to be successful, the client-counselor relationship must be safe, supportive, respectful, compassionate, trusting, and confidential. Our relationship must be a safe haven in order to discuss concerns and to explore ways to realize growth, healing, and a whole and healthy way of being. Most problems have multiple contributing causes (e.g., environmental, interpersonal, behavioral, and physical). I will listen carefully, compassionately, and without judgment to hear your story fully. For people new to counseling, a simple moment of being truly heard and understood is a powerful agent for healing. Our work together is based upon my deep respect for your innate strengths, building upon what is already successful for you. Our approach to therapy, and its length, will depend on your particular needs and goals. Together we can identify the challenges and potential solutions in a straightforward and understandable manner. Your feedback will teach us how to work effectively, emphasizing what is working for you and learning from what is not working. Most importantly, I respect the fact that you are the expert on YOU. It is my privilege and honor to work with you. I collaborate with you integrating Assessment, Client-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Psycho-Education, and Mind/Body techniques. I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Clinical Hypnosis. Research validates the effectiveness of these techniques for a variety of mental health challenges including treatment of civilian and military trauma issues, weight reduction, smoking, and substance abuse. People tell me they grow, change, and feel better after our work together.
